11 Days / 10 Nights

Day 1. Caracas – The Plains (D)

Arrival to Maiquetia International Airport. English bilingual assistance by an Alborada Guide who will give you the briefing of your trip, vouchers and air tickets. Transfer (5min) to the national airport to take the domestic flight to Maturin (50 min). Transfer by road to the Ranch, located in the eastern plains near the Orinoco Delta. Welcome dinner and Overnight. 

Day 2. The Plains – Orinoco Delta (BLD)

Breakfast. Transfer to the Boca de Uracoa Port where you board a motor boat to the heart of the Delta. The Orinoco Delta is one of the biggest flood plains in the entire world, with vast expanses of swampy areas which are crossed by many channels that flow into the Atlatnic. There's a dense and intricate jungle vegetation in the area, thanks to the conjunction of the waters from the Orinoco River and the massive amount of nutrients that it carries through its entire course, as well as the saline waters from the atltantic. Its jungle is a highlight because of its variety of species, from plants of the rain forest of the Amazonas to the mangroves tipical of the coasts. This rich enviorenment is inhabited by a huge amount of very varied tropical fauna which consists of: parakeets, parrots, macaws, toucans, capuchin monkeys, howler monkeys, alligators, water snakes and the most diverse variety of fish, including piranhas. The main inhabitants of this land are the members of the Warao matriarchal indigenous community, who form small communities in the shore of the river's channels. Fantastic adventure through the Delta's jungle. Navigation through the Orinoco tributaries, to undertake the fantastic adventure of penetrating the green forest of the delta where we can admire the unique Delta´s flora and fauna. Arrive to the Lodge located in one of the islands formed by the river. Experience the thrill of a little walk in the middle of this exotic forest. During the walk through the intricate marshy jungle we will be in direct contact with nature, and know how the Indigenouss take advantages of the different plants and animal’s species for food, medicine, wood and fibers to produce handcrafts, utensils, tools and build their houses. We will learn some survival techniques in the jungle. Enjoy a delicious dinner and a good night rest.

Day 3. Orinoco Delta  (BLD)

Breakfast. Enjoy diverse excursions in the lush Orinoco Delta Jungle and feel connected with the relax that nature offers you at this wonderful place. Overnight in Orinoco Delta

Day 4. Canaima National Park (BLD)

Very early fluvial and land transfer to the airport in Puerto Ordaz to take the charter flight to the Lost World of Canaima. Ancestral land of very diverse indigenous communities, region that has managed to preserve its mysterious charm produced by the magnificence of its jungles and mountains. It's also home of the imposing tepuyes: strange rock formations considered to be the most ancient in the world, along with the South of Africa, which rise as grand islands lost in time and space. The visitor will discover that these formations are the reason for numerous legends and beliefs of the area's natives. In ancient times, they were considered the gods of the region. Overfly the expansive plains of the Venezuelan Guayana until reaching the "Lost World" of Canaima National Park. Arrival to Canaima. Transfer to the Port of Ucaima to take a native ship, or "curiara", and navigate across the Carrao River. Accommodation at the lodge. Then we will cross the Canaima lagoon in Indigenous canoes conducted by Indigenous. We pass the Ucaima, Golondrina and Hacha waterfalls that fall spectacularly into the lagoon. We take a short walk through the light tropical forest and savannah to the base of the Sapo waterfalls. Here we have time for a short bath in the refreshing waters. Then, if the weather conditions allow it, prepare to overflight the highest waterfall in the world! On board of a light aircraft we will go towards the Devil Cannon and the Auyantepuy from where we will have the panoramic spectacular view of the jungle, the tepuyes and Angel Falls. Dinner and overnight at the lodge.

Day 5. Canaima – The Grand Savannah (BLD)

After breakfast, time to visit the handicrafts shops. Transfer to the land strip. Flight to Puerto Ordaz. Get ready to start The Great Savannah excursion: the lost world of the Venezuelan Guayana, until the frontier with Brazil. The Great Savannah is one of the nine most ancient geological areas of the earth and one of the national parks with the most interesting landscapes in Venezuela. Designated a World Heritage Site by UNESCO, its expanse encompasses the southeast of the powerful Orinoco river and covers a surface of 30.000 kilometers squared. It is the biggest in Venezuela and the sixth of the world. The traveler will have the ability to contact with a rare millennial nature. They will also travel through rain forests, impressive waterfalls, native communities, prehistoric tepuyes, majestic landscapes where the only thing missing are the dinosaurs. It's a space where sensations and energies converge and allow for meditation and reflection. The trip begins passing through the towns of Upata, Guasipati, The Callao and Tumeremo. All these villages conserve the structure of mining towns with own cultural expressions of the time of the colony. Cross The Callao, an underground gold mine. In Tumeremo we will stop to have lunch in a Creole typical restaurant. We will continue trip passing by the town of 88 Km and in "The Stone of the Virgen” we will stop to observe this natural monument. From this point we will ascend until the 1,400 mts. to arrive at The Grand Savannah. Dinner and overnight at the camp.

Day 6.The Grand Savannah (BLD)

After breakfast we will continue the trip towards the indigenous population of Iboribo. Visit by Curiaras to Aponguao Falls (the higher Jump of Grand Savannah 106 mts of height). The route in curiara takes approx. 30 min. Soon we will undertake our walk of return pas sing through Pozo Escondido (the Hidden Well) and Pozo de los Enamorados (the Well of Lovers) where you can take a refreshing bath and have a picnic lunch. Dinner and overnight at the camp.

Day 7. The Grand Savannah (BLD)

Breakfast. Departure to Santa Elena de Uairen, occasionally stop to visit places of interest like the Kavvi Falls, Kama Meru falls, viewpoint El Oso, where you will have the opportunity to take photos to the prehistoric tepuyes, Arapan ravine and Soroape ravine. At this point we will take our picnic lunch to continue to Yuruani Falls, the Jaspe ravine (named after the famous precious stone). You will visit La Línea, border line with Brazil, where you will appreciate the limits of both countries. Dinner and overnight at the Camp in Santa Elena with a splendid view of the tepuys. 

Day 8. Santa Elena de Uairén (Venezuela) – Boa Vista (Brasil) – Lethem (British Guiana) (BLD)

Breakfast. Transfer to the border “La Línea“continue to Boa Vista crossing the frontier to Lethem in Guyana. Dinner and Overnight in Lethem 

Day 9. Lethem - Georgetown (B)

Breakfast, enjoy the surroundings of Lethem. Transfer to the land strip to take flight to Georgetown, the capital of the British Guyana and the largest city of Guiana. Located in the coast of the Atlantic, a lot of it is located under the sea level, protected by dykes. The city was founded by the French in 1781 and developed by the Dutch who drained its swampy terrain with a channel system. Then it was occupied by the British in 1812. Currently it is an administrative and commercial center with few low-scale industries that produce beer, non-alcoholic beverages and wood products. The city extends in the riverbank of the Demerara River and it's surrounded by sea. It stands out due to its colonial architecture. City tour visiting the most important buildings, out of the most unique, are the Town Hall, the Cathedral (which is made of wood and is one of the tallest buildings in the world), the story of the cathedral is told in the interior on tablets and memorials. Victoria Law Courts and the State House. We will make a stop in Stabroek Market, a place where you can literally buy anything, from house hold goods to fresh meat and vegetables or fresh fruits. Its clock tower can be seen from miles around and is a famous landmark in Guyana. The Market of Water St. Andrews Kirk well-deserved for some shopping we continue visiting the Botanical Gardens, where one can admire all sorts of gorgeous flowers. Overnight.

Day 10. Georgetown – The Wonderful Kaieteur Falls (BL)

After breakfast take a flight to Kaieteur, the second world’s highest free-falling waterfall after Venezuela’s Angel Falls, 100 meters wide. Kaieteur is created as the Potaro River makes a sheer drop of 228 meters, nearly five times the height of Niagara. The spectacle is the more impressive for its remoteness and it is altogether possible that we’ll be the only persons viewing it. Here we will hope to find White-chinned and White-tipped Swifts swirling over the gorge, and perhaps we’ll be lucky enough to see the astonishingly colorful Guiana Cock-of-the-Rock close by. Orange-breasted Falcon can be seen over the gorge as it hunts for swifts. The flight then continues onto Orinduik Falls before returning to Georgetown. Overnight.

Day 11. Georgetown (B)

Breakfast. Transfer to the airport to take your international flight.
