Mochima National Park

Mochima National Park, Venezuela

The Mochima National Park is located on the North-East of Venezuela, between the cities of Barcelona, Puerto La Cruz and Cumaná; it spreads along 94,935 hectares of the coast. Its beauty is diverse: spectacular beaches as the Gulf of Santa Fe, the Archipelago La Borracha, the Peninsula of Manare and Mochima's Bay. There are multiple islands, many of them practically virgins, like the Caracas Islands and the Chimaná Islands. This National Park has a singular combination of mountains along the sea. “Playa Colorada” is world-famous for its thin colored sand, which gives name to the place. The vegetation is lush and you can admire abundant ferns and orchids (the national Venezuelan flower). You can find also iguanas, rabbits, black lizards, snakes, pelicans and boobies birds.
